Calle Independencia 442

So this is our street.  Its never really been a thing of beauty but it sure isn't pretty these days.  The city is putting in new drainage pipes everywhere and what seems like all the heavy construction for doing it all is being housed down the street from us.  The bull dosers and other machines are tearing up our dirt road.  They said they were going to fix it this morning but it still looks the same. You may also find it amusing at how we squeeze our truck into the garage...it honestly does barely fit...the front passenger has to get out before we pull in our they get block in my a cement pole on the inside of the garage but at least they moved the telephone pole that was blocking part of the garage a while back on the outside...that really made life easier...but the guy stealing the motor for our garage door opener several months ago, that was unfortunate but luckily I married a strong tall man!  And I can open it just fine, I have to give a few little swings to give myself a little more momentum to get it open but thats all.  LOL!  Enjoy!

sidenote: for all those worried about Adalyn...she is usually in a rear facing carseat but was a lap baby for that trip.

SPECIAL PRAYER REQUEST

Could you please lift up one of our co-laborers for us? His name is Jacob. He is a pastor in Oklahoma, who has been faithfully coming down to work in the jungle for the past few years as part of their associations strategic partnership. We found out this week that he has tuberculosis and having previously had a liver transplant- it makes his case extremely sensitive. From what the doctors have told him, that there is only a 50% survival rate of cases of tuberculosis with people who have also had a liver transplant. As you can imagine we are so upset by this and were actually encouraged by Jacob yeseterday with his eternal perspective and attitude towards all of it, saying basically that if you've got to die, what better way than because you were doing missions. We have really enjoyed getting to know him over the years as well as two of his children that have also served with REAP. When they come down, its feels like family has come to 'visit' with us. His oldest son is coming at the end of this month, Jacob was planning on leading this team but will not be now, because of all of this.

Would you take some specific time before the Lord in prayer for Jacob, his family, the doctors that are treating him and the medications he is taking and also for the Iquito people that their association has adopted.

We can't say enough to really relate to you how much we would deeply appreciate you going before the thrown with this. As Jacob put it...PRAY ON and may God be persuaded by the MULTITUDES praying on his behalf!

Praise, Praise, Praise to the Most High

After a year of praying- our friend Alejandro has accepted Christ. He lives one of the Iquito villages that Bryan Baptist Association works in. He has been counting the cost for awhile now and very close to accepting Christ several times before but not willing to truly give up certain aspects of his sin nature. After asking Dr. Bandy to go on a hunt with him in the jungle and it turning out to be a successful one killing a taper, 2 majas and a large armadillo. Alejandro knew that it had to have been the Lord's blessing and faithfulness because it was a direct answer to prayer before. Him and his wife Rosa (who accepted Christ in October) were also baptized. So please pray for them as they start out in their walks with the Lord in Atalaya.

Point to Ponder

Iquitos is only accessible by boat or airplane. It is the largest city in the world with no road access, so why the other day when I was driving did I happen to see a "Cruz del Sur" bus company office?

Where can you go by tour bus from Iquitos? No where. Hmmmm? I'm sure they sale tickets to somewhere because they are able to keep an office space here...but really- a bus line office for a city that has no road access?!? LOL
