We're Back

So after our little baby detour in Lima- we've been back in Iquitos for a little over 3 weeks now. We've been super doper busy since we landed. Getting the house livable again after being away, unpacking things we had stored for safe keeping and what not. We also came home to a jungle for a back yard. The grass had grown like no one's business and we also some how started to grow a type of poison ivy that grows here as well as several colonies of fire ants. So we just decided to make it our Christmas gift to each other- and started all over. We dug up the entire back yard (with the help of another missionary & 2 Peruvians), planted new flower bushes, 2 new trees, 10 banana trees, started a vegetable garden and put new sod down. Now you'd think that would have cost a small furtune but luckily we live in the jungle and it cost us less than $200 and that includes labor and fertilizer and dirt! Craziness. Anyways- we did all that the week before Christmas. We also had so much fun catching up with friends and other missionaries up here and showing off Adalyn. We met a new couple down the street from us that have a son Karis' age. We had them over for dinner and are hoping to get to know them better, we were able to share a little with them during dinner but mostly just got to know them.

We have also had 2 teams come in and go out on the river. Oklahoma Baptist Univeristy has a team of 14 down here until Jan 17 during discipleship with the Iquito People. Casey Kidd is back (our Hands On Semester Missionary from last year) and he brought two more guys from Union University (John & Josh) to work with the Yagua for 21 days in the village of Esperanza (Hope).

The girls are adjusting to the jungle and the heat well. Those first few days were really rough- they both had horrorable heat rash and both were miserable. But every day gets better.

Christmas was so much fun this year. If our internet is running a little faster soon or we go to the airport (faster internet there) then I'll try to upload some pictures.

All in all we're glad to be back and looking forward to all the God is going to do here in 2011.
